The fact
The Global Cybersecurity Outlook 2026, published 12 January 2026, reported that 64% of surveyed organisations were accounting for geopolitically motivated cyberattacks in their cyber-risk mitigation strategies. The report also said 91% of the largest organisations surveyed had changed cybersecurity strategies because of geopolitical volatility. [Source: World Economic Forum, 12 January 2026.]
These are global survey findings, not evidence that a specific customer faces a particular geopolitical threat.
What this means for a seller
Use geopolitical context to ask better questions about supplier dependencies, data location, operational ownership and resilience. Do not decide the customer’s exposure from a headline or turn one regional concern into a universal requirement. The useful sales task is to identify the exact dependency, evidence and decision owner the buyer is reviewing before recommending any customer action.
