The fact

The Indian Cyber Security Skilling Landscape Report 2025–26, published by the Data Security Council of India and SANS Institute on 1 May 2026, says 63% of enterprises and 59% of providers reported limited hands-on practical skills among job candidates. The finding covers cybersecurity candidates broadly; it is not a measurement of cybersecurity-sales applicants.

What this means for a seller

If you are moving into security sales, do not compensate for limited technical experience by memorising more acronyms. Learn how security evidence works, understand common architecture and responsibility boundaries, practise reading tests and assurance material, and become comfortable saying when a specialist must validate the answer. Commercial credibility comes from disciplined reasoning as much as vocabulary in a buyer meeting.
