CISA’s Secure by Demand guide puts product security into the buying process
ASTRA Ready editorial ·

The fact
CISA published its Secure by Demand Guide on 6 August 2024 to help software customers bring product-security considerations into procurement. The guide encourages buyers to ask manufacturers about security practices and to consider product security before purchase, during contracting and after procurement. [Source: CISA, 6 August 2024.]
The guide is buyer-focused public guidance; it does not say that one document or product feature proves a customer is secure.
What this means for a seller
Security review is not an interruption to the deal. Prepare early by mapping which product claims have evidence, which controls remain customer-managed, who owns questionnaire answers and which commitments could affect the contract or delivery scope. Speed comes from knowing where the proof is and who is authorised to stand behind it when procurement asks for proof.
